.: Reader x Nepeta: Confursation Hearts :.

"And this one is fur Ampurra..." Nepeta sat a purple conversation heart down to nine other ones. She swiped her tongue across her lips and quirked a brow, tilting her head. "No more pink ones?" she whined.

"If you have food dye we can mess around." you suggested, sorting some of your own conversation hearts across the floor of Nepeta's cave.

The rocky texture was surprisingly nice for holding the small candy.

You snagged the one she sat down and put it in the purple pile, your eyes flicking back to her.

"I think I have some red and white berry mash..." Nepeta stood up, stretching her arms and letting out a yawn that ended in a relaxed purr noise. She walked across the floor to where she kept all her 'paints' for her ship drawings and doodles, sorting and moving around the various leaves that contained the colors. 

You continued to stare at the hearts, flipping some over to read what this years' batch read.

Various ones that mostly were those.

"Found it!" Nepeta darted back with some strawberry mash and some...coconut shreds in a pretty big leaf. "Hey ___, could mew water this down to a dye like state?"

"Sure." you replied, taking the leaf.

You walked outside of her cave and looked at the river that ran near it. You scrunched your face.

"This would take forever..." you set the leaf in the river and walked off through the woods and sidepaths until you faced a small store for cooking supplies.

You checked your pocket.

Two dollars.

That should be enough.

You walked in the store and let your gaze rest on the aisle with jars of things like Vanilla and Peppermint extract, and when you found the dyes, you smiled.

Your finger dragged lightly across the plastic railing, only reading off the colors.

Pink!

A dollar fifty, how perfect.

You snagged the bottle and walked to the counter, paying the money and telling the cashier to keep the change.

When you walked back to the cave, Nepeta's humming was heard from inside.

You peeked your head in and saw that she was picking up all of the white ones, setting them in a pile.

Did a troll suddenly have white blood? It couldn't have been Karkat, there were light red ones for him.

You shook your head, taking the leaf from the river and shaking the mash and shavings into the grass, taking the bottle and unscrewing the cap, pouring the liquid onto the leaf. You knew she wouldn't buy that, so you decided to mix up the mash and shavings back in with it, smiling at the end result.

Wait.

The smile quickly faltered to a frown.

This wasn't pink! It was the polar opposite! Lime green! 

You gasped and Nepeta peeked her head out from the mouth of the cave, looking at you curiously.

"Is something wrong ___? Mew have been mixing the things together fur a while out he- why is it lime?"

You discretely moved the bottle under your leg. "I have nooo idea." you said, smiling awkwardly at the cat troll.

"Huh...well, I did find one more pink confursation heart, so you can just bring the mix in." she flicked her tail and you and you followed her in, unaware that the bottle was still open and the dye leaked onto the bottom of your shoe, the color obviously not the same from the 'dye' you supposedly made.

As you sat the leaf down, you gazed at the piles of the candy.

"Ten fur efurryone!" Nepeta seemed proud, swaying her tail.

You pointed at the white ones. "Who are those for?" you asked.

"Oh, those? Nobody, they're just other ones. We can use the mash to dye those if mew want! Mew do like lime, right ____?"

"Yeah, I do, actually." you smiled and she smiled back.

"Purrfect then! She reached down to grab the leaf when her eyes flicked to your shoe.

She blinked and straightened up, looking at you oddly.

"Is there a problem, Nep?"

"Why is mewr shoe...green?"

"Wha-" you looked down. Oh god. "HOW THE HECK DID THAT HAPPEN THE DYE WASN'T SUPPOSED TO LEAK--" Your eyes were wide after realizing you just blurted that out like. Your hands slammed themselves over your mouth as you looked at Nepeta, feeling your face turn into a hot mess.

"Mew bought dye...?" she looked at you pathetically and you nodded barely.

"Yes." you breathed. Your breath was mostly caught in your throat.

"But...why?"

"Nepeta, I don't think soaking coconut shreds and strawberry mash will magically create pink dye."

"So mew bought lime dye?"

"IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PINK BUT I DIDN'T ACTUALLY READ THE LABEL-"

Her face was pissed. She was mad. 

Your face was terrified. You were scared.

She growled ad you and you stepped back, somehow stepping on the leaf and getting flung in the air, dropping onto the floor with a 'cRICK'!

"___? I'm sorry, ___. Wake up. ...Purrlease?" Nepeta's voice was in your ear as you fluttered your eyes open, staring at the rock ceiling.

Your head felt cold.

"Where am I?" you murmured.

"My cave." Nepeta said, blushing olive. "I got really mad at mew and mew kinda slipped and fell..."

"But you coulda put me in the river, why did you help me?"

"My feelings are easily hurt, ____. But they are also easily made nice." she closed her eyes and smiled, swaying her tail. 

"Are they?"

"Yup." she turned around and casually dumped the white conversation hearts on you. "I actually got these fur mew."

"Oh." you said. "I guess you're right."

She grinned, sitting you up.

"So..."

"So." Nepeta rolled her eyes, kissing you.

Your eyes grew wide yet again and you cracked an awkward smile, kissing her back.

She pulled back and took a few of the conversation hearts with a smirk. They all said 'be mine'.

She was making a point here.

"So, will mew?"

"Hmmmm..." you sorted through the random other pile and help up a green one that said 'yes'.

"Good~" she hugged you and you hugged her back, smiling a genuine happy smile.
